Guide to be a successfull affiliate.

By: Kevin Jones

You need to face reality. I know you've heard the hype that you can get rich quick online. But it's just hype. It's not going to happen.

Anyone that's making good money online is doing so because they worked long and hard to get where they are today.

There's a learning curve to marketing that produces results. Just like everything, you need to learn and practice, learn and practice, over and over again.

You need to realize that marketing an Affiliate Program's product/service can be boiled down to just one word. Sales. That's right. You are going to have to become a salesman (saleswoman). And *sales* is a profession. A profession that requires time to learn. You should give yourself that time.

One of the benefits of marketing online is that you will be learning as you go. And in your spare time.

Let's recap.

You understand that you will be learning a new skill and that it's going to take time to build up to the monthly income you desire. Now let's take you're ultimate monthly goal and lower it to a more reachable target.

For example, let's assume you want to make $600 per month as an Affiliate.

Now that you know getting rich quick isn't an option. Be conservative and say it's going to take you 6 months to learn (as you go) how to be effective as a salesman (saleswoman). So set a reachable goal of $100 in commissions your first month. Then.....

$200 commissions your 2nd month
$300 commissions your 3rd month
$400 commissions your 4th month
$500 commissions your 5th month
$600 commissions your 6th month

(This example assumes that you would earn $10 commission per sale.)

Now divide that $100 goal by the $10 you would earn per sale. You come up with 10. You need to make 10 sales to reach your first month’s business goal.

Don't stop there. We need to see how many sales you need to work towards each week. 10 divided by 4 (weeks)= 2.5 That's 2 and a half sales per week.

Or 2 weeks of the month you need 2 sales and 2 weeks of the month you need 3 sales. For a total of 10 sales. Can you see yourself making 2 or 3 sales per week? Can you see how this is a realistic target to work towards?

When you move to your 2nd, 3rd, and so on, months' targets, work out how many sales you need to make per week. Just work towards your weekly targets.

One very important point to understand is that to be successful you need to believe you can do it. You need to be able to see yourself making those 2 or 3 sales per week (or whatever your weekly target is).

Your first few months will be an intense learning experience. You'll be learning skills you've never used before. Skills that you'll be developing through study, trial and error. Learn through doing.

Being successful will require consistent persistence.

If you don't reach your first month’s target, don't worry. Just keep doing. What do I mean by doing? I mean learning and studying how to market and promote and taking action. If you don't take action, you can't make sales.

Study, learn, and find a mentor to ask for help/advice. If what you're doing to market isn't working, try a different marketing method. You can be successful as an Affiliate if you don't give up.

Don't set your monthly targets in stone. So what if you don't reach it. Make an adjustment in your target. Make your monthly target a little lower. Maybe you weren't being realistic in the amount of time you would need to spend marketing and promoting.

If you don't reach your monthly target it could be as simple as you need to rewrite your sales letters or follow up letters. Or maybe your ad copy needs some work. Or you haven't been doing enough promotion. Or you're promoting in the wrong places. It could be any number of things.

Evaluate every aspect of your activities, and what you're spending your time doing.

This is one of the times a mentor would be of benefit. Find a successful Affiliate in the program you're in.

Email him/her. If he/she doesn't want to be your sounding board or answer your questions, keep looking for someone who IS willing to help.

It's your business. Be accountable for your time and actions. Strive to reach your targets and ultimately your goal. Never give up!
